Sailor Mercury Milk Bath Boudoir
I know I always say I’m excited to share new photos, but I can’t help it! I get so hyped! This session is extra super special too. This gorgeous gal Jaya is my best and oldest friend of 25 years. We met each other on the first day of school on the bus, and through some amazing magic in the universe have managed to stay friends over the years and many cross country moves. It’s really insane when you think too much about it, but I am so happy we are still in each other’s lives.
When I told Jaya about my Sailor Moon milk bath series and asked her if she’d come out to Colorado to visit and be one of the scouts, her response was she wanted to be Mercury because she has the short hair. I personally think Mercury fits perfectly though, as she is known as the “Soldier of Water and Intellect” of the Sailor Scouts and Jaya is one of the smartest people I know! Naturally this meant doing some shots with a book in the milk bath, as fans of Sailor Moon would know Ami Mizuno is never without a book. I also got to try something totally new for a prop – bubbles! This was pretty entertaining (as you can see in this behind the scenes clip from instagram) but I am so in love with the results. Mercury’s powers in the series have to do with water, and she has a specific attack called “bubble blast”, so I’m so happy we were able to get the bubbles to work. Jaya also rocked some super cute retro inspired bathing suits for a little bit of pin up flair.
We also had to do a nod to our lives as crazy cat ladies in this shoot, and I obviously am in love with the Lisa Frank 90’s rainbow cats crop top Jaya brought. We are wrapping up our month long cat lady fashion challenge, and it was so fun to be able to wear some of our cat fashions together while she was here!
Huge shout out to the amazing Lark Mervine for her beautiful makeup look, and to my bestie Jaya for being all around awesome all the time at all the things always, and for letting me share some of your photos below. <3
Only a couple more Sailor Scouts to go before I finish this series! What will I do next?!
