Denver Underwater Portraits | Vintage Glamour
In case you couldn’t tell, I’m having way too much fun playing with my new underwater housing. I now have started telling people when they ask what I do that I’m a women’s portrait photographer… including underwater. The looks and comments I get when I say this are priceless. “Why would anyone want to shoot underwater in a place like Colorado!? It’s way too cold here most of the year, there aren’t any fun underwater locations like reefs or shipwrecks, and isn’t that incredibly hard/messy/I just don’t get it.”
That is basically the exact reason why I want to do it – because people think I shouldn’t. I can’t help it, it’s my rebellious nature! I enjoy the challenge and I want to be different. I love that my clients and I get to figure things out together, problem solve, and create art. I get to splash around in the pool for a few hours which is always a bonus in my book.
For this session, we decided to go for a vintage 1920’s flapper style glamour look. My lovely friend Lisa did an amazing job posing underwater – it is WAY harder than it looks! Another fun bonus to this session was that my husband came along and did some scuba diving with Go Pro in hand. He caught some behind the scenes video of us that I’m excited to show you all. Some people have asked me if I actually am swimming and diving with the models and the answer is yes, of course! You can watch a bit below, and look out for a surprise guest appearance at the end.
