As the milk bath photo expert, I get a lot of questions about how these sessions work. Today I’ll share with you my general milk bath portrait timeline from start to finish. You’ll get a behind the scenes peek at how I work with each of my clients, and what to expect when you are preparing for your own photo shoot with me.

Booking your shoot
So how do you even get started on doing this milk bath session thing? You send me an email or message through my contact page and let me know a little bit about you! I will send you lots more details on my sessions, packages, and available dates. Once we find a day and time that works for you, I will send you my online booking form to lock in your session date. Then we are on our way to making magical art!
Your planning consultation
Once we have your session all booked and your date locked in place, we will plan a time to do a planning consultation. We can meet in person at my studio, or virtually over skype or on the phone if you live further away. During this planning time we will talk about outfit ideas, colors, props, makeup, accessories, and anything else you may have questions about. I want to make sure you feel 100% prepared when you come in for your session, so anything you’d like to know just ask.
The day of your session
The day of your session has finally come! You’ve spent time prepping all your outfits and accessories, and hope you have everything you’ll need to bring with you. The good news is all you need to bring are your outfits and a dry change of clothes to wear home. Everything else we have here for you. We will start by taking a look through all your outfits and making some final plans for the order you’ll wear them in. Then you’ll head into the makeup chair with one of my fabulous professional makeup artists while I finish the set up and prep for the photo shoot. Then we will be ready to go! I do 3 colors in the bath and typically 5 to 6 outfits. I’ll be posing you and coaching you on everything down to your fingertips, so don’t worry if you think you can’t model. I am super detail oriented and will be checking and perfecting your wardrobe and all the props we use. Once we get through all our sets, you are welcome to rinse off in the shower and we’ll get all your stuff packed up and ready to go.
Reveal and ordering meeting
About a week or two after your session, you’ll come back to my studio for your reveal. This is the really fun part. You get to see your final images, fully edited and retouched, on the big screen! We’ll look through all the pictures together and you’ll be able to choose your favorites. If you have a hard time making decisions I am more than happy to help and weigh in with my artistic expertise. You can look through all my studio samples of albums, prints, and products to decide what type of artwork you’d like to order.
Getting your artwork and beyond
Once you’ve approved your album design and everything has been created for you, I will let you know when it’s ready and we will arrange a pick up of all your amazing new custom artwork. You can then display it or gift it to your heart’s desire.
After that our time together will be over (until your next session that is!) I would love to hear feedback from you, and especially love it when my client want to share their experience or photos on social media too. I want to keep up with what you are doing too, so make sure to follow me on instagram or facebook, and then I can follow you back and we can hang out and chat even after your session is complete.
